Pre-Orchestra Division Rules and Guidelines
ATTENDANCE
Attendance is very important to your child’s progress as well as that of the group. The 10 week
course is very intensive. Arriving late or missing lessons should be avoided, if possible.
If you know in advance that you will be missing practice, please notify East County Youth Symphony
at 619.444.0228. By calling at least 24 hours before your lesson time, your absence will be
considered excused. If we do not receive notification prior to your absence, it will be
considered an unexcused absence.
Dismissal from the program will result from the following:
- 1. Second Unexcused Absence.
- 2. Third Absence of any type.
- 3. Excessive Tardies (at the discretion of the Executive Director)
NOTE: If you have signed up for the program and received notice of acceptance, you must notify ECYS at 619.444.0228 if you have changed your mind and do not intend to participate. By not letting us know, you are essentially precluding another deserving young musician from participating in your place. If this occurs, you will not be considered for the program in the future.
FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES
At the culmination of each 10 week program, a concert will be scheduled to showcase the talent of our young musicians.
It is your responsibility to assist in making this a well-attended and fun event.
You are required to purchase and/or sell the following minimum number of tickets to the concert at $10 apiece.
- 3 tickets if you have 1 musician in this program.
- 4 tickets if you have 2 musicians in this program.
- 2 tickets if you have another musician in any other ECYS program.
NOTE: Admission is FREE to all children under 14 years old.
A coordinated effort will be made for all families to bring things like cookies,
brownies, drinks, plastic plates/forks/cups/napkins, etc. to our after concert Party
to be held immediately after the concert at the same location.
